Meet the Firm

Jason’s character and integrity are everywhere present in the firm and set the expectations for all of our employees. Above all, we are:

Jason MillerI started my career with a Big Four public accounting firm, working with entrepreneurial and non-profit-based organizations, and it was during these years that I realized that while I loved the work, my true life goal was to follow my family’s tradition of owning and operating my own business. After fulfilling this goal in 2012, I vowed to build an accounting practice based on the premise that I’d treat clients just as I do my friends and family. I pride myself as a hard-worker who learned that trait through my upbringing and working in my family furniture stores through my teenage years.

My family and I now live on Capitol Hill, where I enjoy the city’s vibe and am excited to see how small businesses continue to reshape the landscape. We’re dedicated to Washington D.C. and have chosen to raise our family here. No matter where you’re located, we consider you a part of our community and understand that your life goals become ours.

Prior to starting the J.S. Miller Group, I:

  • Was an Auditor with Ernst & Young and KPMG.
  • Worked as in-house CPA for Marriott International’s Internal Audit and SEC Reporting Group.
  • Held the position of CFO at Universal Air Travel Plan, a global financial services firm, responsible for all financial and risk management.
  • Earned an MBA from The George Washington University.

Then in December 2012, I started the J.S. Miller Group.

Amanda Bartolini, Chief Operating Officer, is tasked with creating, refining, and maintaining the J. S. Miller Group’s organizational structure. Some of Amanda’s responsibilities include onboarding new clients and employees, staffing and monitoring engagements, and ensuring compliance and consistency across the company. In addition to her operational responsibilities, she actively oversees many of our client relationships by guiding and assisting our staff and senior accountants.

Before joining The J.S. Miller Group, Amanda worked several years as an auditor for KPMG in Washington, DC. After leaving KPMG, she worked in the Corporate Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy Departments for Marriott International in Bethesda, MD. Her background in audit, financial reporting, and technical accounting, along with her attention to detail and analytical skills, position her well to support our staff and clients.

Amanda lives with her husband and two children in Catonsville, MD.

Glenn R. Frank, III joined our team in February of 2023 as a senior tax manager. Glenn is a results-oriented accounting professional with more than 30 years of experience in entrepreneurial business ownership, public accounting, and taxation. My experience includes providing CFO services, business consulting, government contracting, non-profit accounting with a special focus on business growth.

My focus is on the long-term profitability and success of my business and individual clients. My goal is to take an understanding of complex accounting and tax solutions and present them in a way that makes them simplified and very practical.

I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).

Glenn grew up in Hollywood, Maryland, and lives in Hughesville, Maryland. Glenn is an active member of his community. A past President of the Leonardtown Rotary, and Multiple Paul Harris Fellow award recipient; Active participant/presenter with the Non-Profit Institute (College of Southern Maryland); Graduate of the Leadership of Southern Maryland Program (Class of 2013 – It’s Genetic); Member local Business Association; former Board member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. former Board member of Ducks unlimited, Charles County; Member of the Charles County Technology Council; Member of the St. Mary’s Chamber of Commerce (and past presenter for Health Care reform symposium); Member of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce.

Jennifer Withers is a bookkeeper and controller who works with small businesses and non-profits to manage their financial well-being and planning. Prior to her current role with JSMG, Jennifer spent more than a decade overseeing operations and finance for a fast-growing government contractor where she was responsible for developing and analyzing budgets and cost controls, providing timely and frequent financial information that supported corporate goals and objectives. She has comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger postings, invoicing, and compliance guidelines. During her years with JSMG (2017), she has developed and delivered monthly, quarterly, and annual Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets for management of a variety of clients within strict deadlines. In her personal time, she also provides volunteer bookkeeping and financial management services for some local non-profits in her community.

Jennifer is certified in QuickBooks and holds a BA from Dartmouth College.

Stephanie Sparks is a young accountant with a passion for numbers and a strong work ethic. She graduated from the College of Coastal Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance in 2021 and has already made a name for herself in the industry. Stephanie has quickly gained valuable experience working with the J.S. Miller Group, where she has been involved in a wide range of accounting and financial reporting projects.

Sheila Nicholson is a senior accountant at JSMG, who is responsible for managing a portfolio of small to medium-sized companies. She has comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, A/P, A/R, general ledger postings, invoicing, bank reconciliation, and reporting. Before joining JSMG, Sheila worked in Brazil in a medium-sized accounting firm, where she was responsible for managing 10-12 companies, providing tax and bookkeeping services. Sheila has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA degree. During these years of experience, Sheila developed a strong history of effective time management by prioritizing and managing multiple assignments of varying complexity within tight deadlines.

Hala Salameh is a Senior Accountant at JSMG, where her expertise shines in managing small and medium-sized private companies as well as not-for-profit organizations. Hala started her journey as an external auditor four years ago when she began her professional career, and she has since found her niche at JSMG. Her role encompasses bookkeeping, day-to-day accounting tasks, handling client requests, preparing monthly financial statements, and ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Hala is a proud alumna of Bethlehem University in where she earned her BA degree in accounting and business administration. During her undergraduate studies, she embraced an enriching exchange program at the Economic and Management School of Lund University, Sweden. It was there that she was able to dive deeper into the realms of leadership and entrepreneurship, solidifying her skill set and knowledge base. With her academic prowess and practical experience, Hala continues to excel in her role, bringing dedication, precision, and a passion for financial excellence to her work at JSMG.

Tarsila Gomes is a staff accountant with JSMG. She is responsible for ensuring the consistency and veracity of the accounting information of some small and medium-sized companies.

Tarsila spent more than 15 years working with Accounting. Before joining JSMG Tarsila has worked in Brazil for 2 multinationals. She has experience in the accounting closing process, strong performance in improving and automating processes, providing financial information, accounting reports through analysis, and account support to other areas.

She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA in Finance and Controllership Management.

Tarsila is a very committed, and fast learner, with professional discipline and organization, and great teamwork.
